All Good Things Must Come To An End

Since most people will have forgotten about Election Day by the time the signs have come down, I've decided to hop on-board the Twitter bandwagon to gain some perspective on what tomorrow means for folks...or at least the hyper-connected ones. I'll be doing what I've done the past 2 elections: working for the Orange County Registrar of Voters as a field Coordinator. Basically, a hired gun to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may pop up throughout the day. Orange County is only only 1 of 2 counties in the state of CA still allowed to use VVPAT DRE's (Electronic Voting Tablets).
So tomorrow I'll be tweeting and contributing updates via iPhone 3G using the Vote Report app, and maybe good will come out of all of this silliness. I wonder who will play Obama on SNL for the next 4 years.

Fair Use is A Bitch, Even For A Senator

This week the McCain camp felt the sting of a DMCA smackdown when CBS issued a takedown notice over the campaign's use of a video clip posted on YouTube. While YouTube may be quick to takedown videos when a notice is sent by the copyright holder, asking to fully review the video would bring the a level of burden to Google that is unknown outside of the hallowed grounds of government bureaucracy.
Now that McCain is really feeling the pain of the every man perhaps some real progress can made. Probably not, his answer to get exemptions for those that can lobby for it (because it worked so well for the Tax Code).

Real Lipstick On A Pig

Gov. Palin has been ordered by an Alaskan Judge to "preserve" her Yahoo! e-mail messages (you know, the ones that she for gov't business) so that the Attorney General can further investigate them. It seems that she just skips from one investigation to another, without missing a wink.
At first, I thought that Palin stood for just as much change as Obama: it turns out that I was right (unfortunately). The election is less than 3 weeks away and if I wanted a Vice-President that uses private e-mail accounts to circumvent public oversight while abusing and overstepping the power of their position for personal gain, I would rather that the GOP hadn't put lipstick (and an up-do) on Dick Cheney.

Tubes Must Be Clogged Up North

Just in case you had hoped that with all of the talk of change there would actually be some, the ever-faithful electorate of Alaska are still backing Senator Ted "Series of Tubes" Stevens. But who can blame them if since he tried so hard to get that bridge to nowhere. He just won the primary even though he's been indicted by the FBI on 7 corruption counts. I couldn't go back to work if I was indicted, let alone expect to keep my job.
The Senate health care plan must be really considering how many have been in office PM (pre-Maurice). That's 13 if your counting.

"Patriots Have No Party"

As the flags were waved and cheers erupted almost on cue (actually, it was), it's hard not to be inspired. That is until the the moment Obama stopped speaking; and the pundits filled that vacuum so fast there wasn't even time to collect my own thoughts. But that's what the pundits are for. Better yet, that's what Tivo's for - skip. The overlays on CNN drove me crazy. ESPN on draft day has less crap on the screen.
For the Dems the pageantry is over, Obama has taken the gloves off, now we only have to wait a week to see what McCain has in-store in Minneapolis.
